Hey, I’m Donna.

I have many passions photography, writing + music to name a few, yet motherhood has by far been my greatest achievement, playing a huge part in how I see and document the stories around me. I’m married to my teenage sweetheart + best friend. We have four (not so) little muses + two fur babies filling our days with mess and love. I’m incredibly sentimental + I see every detail of our lives as precious and worthy of remembering, this is how I approach every project that I film/photograph.

My clients crave real memories + my sessions inspire vulnerability + connection. Wether I’m capturing the beauty + chaos of your family or the raw power + love of your birth story. I’ll take your quiet tender moments, your loud one of a kind laughter + even your tears.. and I’’ll show you your essence, the light that’s created when your love collides.

The Blackcherry Story

Blackcherry Photography was born from the ashes of “The Black Saturday Fires” of 2009, I found myself documenting this personal tragedy as a way of processing and moving through my grief. My style blossoming over time into a mix of documentary + lifestyle. As I embraced my love of maternity, birth, parenthood + little people. Blackcherry Photography quickly became my other baby.

As a mum of four and a positive birth advocate it was no accident that I would fall in love with birth photography. When I couldn’t find a professional to capture the birth of my daughter in 2010. That moment defined my decision to specialise in births when I launched blackcherry photography in 2011.

Since then I’ve become a trained & experienced doula, creating not only beautiful images for all my families but an entirely tailored Blackcherry Photography experience.
